A Few Pennies Later.... Topshop splurge.

Firstly apologies that this is only my 2nd post this week, I can't explain to you how busy I am right now. Working 2 jobs and managing a social life proves harder than it lets off at times. I've not even done a lot this week, eaten loads of crappy food, spent WAY too much money and slept at every god given opportunity. I can always tell its a busy week when its Thursday (basically Friday) and I still haven't watched Mondays episode of Made In Chelsea.
Anyway I thought I'd let you all in on a secret... As part of a bonus for working at Topshop/Topman all employees were given 15% off vouchers for family and friends, then 30% off vouchers for us. I thought I would make full use of the discount and kick start my Christmas shopping (hence the splurge.) And obviously I managed to find a few picks for myself as well. Like I said in my 1 Month Till Christmas post earlier this week (click here to view) I'm off to Bath tomorrow/today (Friday!) for my boyfriends birthday. I have 1 more voucher to use, so I will let you know if I buy anything else tomorrow.

I haven't take photos of my Christmas presents, but I thought I would show you all what I brought for myself... Let me know your thoughts as always.

Christmas Wish List.... So Far!

Well the C word... (Christmas) fast approaching, I thought it would only be right if I shared with you all my Christmas wish list... Never know hopefully someone reading has connections with the big man santa himself and can please let him know what I want.
I always think Christmas would be so much easier if people actually wrote wish lists, and told you what they wanted. Its far better than you buying people things they don't want and that get left to go dusty in a cupboard.

I have asked my parents for money towards a Pandora watch (click here to see.) I had a beautiful vintage leather one (from a charity shop) but the strap broke, I was totally gutted cos I'd had it for years. I've been watch-less for the last 6 months and its becoming a bit ridiculous because I'm always late to places, and I'm forever looking at my wrist to find out the time...which much to my surprise I see a empty wrist every time. I've also asked my sister for a bowler hat from Topshop (click here to see.) I do actually already have a bowler hat, I brought it of a little old hat at Portobello Market in London, but its too big for me so blows away nearly every time I wear it outside. I've already nearly had it run over by a car so I defiantly don't want to take anymore chances!

Would love to know what you all think of my Christmas wish list, and would be so grateful if you want to share any of your wish lists with me. Thank you... Until next time.

I'll Cross My Heart

Well here we are again... Monday. The day everyone dreads. After working all weekend believe me I am up there with the rest of you when I wanted to cry at the sound of my alarm this morning. For a second I even thought it was Tuesday, that was defiantly my mind playing tricks on me.
Todays outfit was very dark, looking at the photos now I'm thinking I should have added a little more colour, even a red lipstick would have a been a start. If any of you saw my week in Instagram post last week (click here to view) you may recognise this shirt. I am in love with it... and guess what?! Its from a charity shop, originally from ASOS. I paid £4.00 for it, bargain of the week!
I'm a bit obsessed when it comes to charity shopping (I call it chazzing) I just love browsing through the rails and not knowing what you might find. I've found so many good bargains over the years including a real 1960's vintage Louis Vuitton bag, priced at a mere fiver! And just over a year ago I even wrote an article for the local paper in Bristol all about my love for Chazzing! You might not always find things every time you go chazzing, but its so worth popping in regularly as the shops update there stock more than weekly.

Would love to hear you thoughts on this outfit, and let me know if any of you have found any good charity shop bargains too.... Happy Monday!

1 Month Till Christmas!

Heya everyone! I hope you have all had a lovely weekend, and are truly getting into the Christmas spirit... After all today it is 1 MONTH TILL CHRISTMAS!! I feel like such a big child but I am really excited! Today I had my first glass of mulled wine...and I even brought a lush Christmasy dress from Topshop (where else?!) I will defiantly do an outfit post of this dress in the lead up to Christmas. I love the colours and the sparkles, although - warning... the glitter falls off quite easily, by the time I had got it home and tried it on my bedroom floor was already covered in glitter!

This week I have been the most trigger happy person! I only got my iPhone5 just over a month ago, yet I am still Instagram obsessed (follow emmageorge_) I've been taking loads of photos of Christmassy things, let me know what you think.

Next Friday its my boyfriends birthday, so were popping into Bath where they have a Christmas market on. I've been there a few years ago, and I remember I had some hot chocolate, and there was loads of delicious food tasters. For his birthday I've also booked a surprise visit to Bath Spa, he knows nothing about it so hoping he'll love it. My mum took me there in September, it was amazing to just relax and chill out. They have a pool on the roof of the building, which will be so lovely a night with all the lights. I'm really excited just need Monday - Thursday to fly by... I will let you all know how it all goes.

Your comments, and thoughts please.

Flower Garden

In contrast to my post about last week, this week has been the slowest week ever. All I can say it TGIF!!! (thank god its Friday!) Although sadly I'm working all weekend, it still feels good to be a Friday. I hope you have all had a lovely week. I've been meaning to do an outfit post all week but just haven't got round to it, so I do apologise. I will definitely do some more next week.
This outfit is very girlie, and I have to admit I'm not a massive girly girl but I just loved the collared blouse and the skirt just is an easy wear with any outfit. I've brought myself some collar clips which I actually LOVE! It adds that little bit of detail to any blouse or shirt, and is more subtle than a necklace. If you haven't got your hands on one yet, I would 100% recommend you do, or put it on the Christmas list! Once again, my outfit is head to toe in Topshop...its what happens when you work there!

Let me know your thoughts please :) I hope you all have a much more interesting plans for your weekend than me!

My Week in Instagram.

Cheeky trip to Amsterdam

I've literally had Swedish House Mafia's new album 'Until Now' on repeat since it was released. The whole 33 track album is such a good collaboration of all three of the artists, Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastien Ingrosso. It was released just prior to their final world wide tour, which I was unbelievably lucky to get tickets for!
So I'm off to Amsterdam with my boyfriend to see them on the 7th of December. I am so so excited, especially as I've never been to Amsterdam before. I think its going to be really nice to go around Christmas time, hopefully we'll be able to go to some Christmas markets and get some shopping done. We've booked to go for 5 days just so we can do lots of sight seeing as well, I'm pretty keen to go to the Anne Frank museum and the Van Gough gallery, as well as looking around the red light district, and general other touristy things.

I will most definatley do a post when I'm back from Amsterdam telling you all about my trip and the concert of course!
Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you

Round My Hometown

After seeing James Arthur's amazing performance covering 'Adele - Hometown Glory' on Xfactor the other week (click here to watch) I thought it was only right to do a post about my hometown, Bristol in the South West of England. I was born in Bristol, and have lived here nearly all of my life. The only short time I did move away for I missed it so much I came back! Many people say its a smaller version of London as its a smallish city but yet there is so much to do and has some of the most amazing architecture and buildings.

I took a trip up to Brandon Hill, not far from the centre of Bristol. Its a lovely little park and has a tower there (pictured below) called Cabot Tower which you can climb and literally see for miles. Its so Beautiful on a sunny day seeing the views of Bristol.

Glitter and Sparkles

As I was feeling really Christmasy this week I decided to splash out on some velvet sparkly leggings from Topshop. They set me back £25 but are so worth it, their really warm, fit so well and are so nice to touch. The trends in Topshop at the moment are amazing, literally makes me want to buy it all, the colours are all gold and silver sticking to the metallic trend of winter.

I thought I'd team my leggings with a plain grey top just to balance out the prints and draw attention to the bottom half of the outfit. I took this photo walking on the way to work, the leggings kept me warm, however my shoe choice wasn't the best as my feet were frozen.

Where has my week gone?!

I don't know about any of you but sometimes I have those days/weeks where I literally do not know where the time has gone! Its Saturday already, and before I know it... it will be Monday again!
I can tell Christmas is going to come around so soon, which I actually cannot wait for. Although working in retail at Christmas isn't the best, I'm still super excited. Speaking of Christmas I tried to go out and start my Christmas shopping on Tuesday this week, I had prepared my list and everything, feeling all organised...however it ended in a total nightmare. I got really stressed out as it was really busy and had just started raining and the shopping centre I was at is kind of outdoors, so I ended up going for dinner instead to this lovely italian restaurant called Piccolinos where I had the most amazing sea food spaghetti (pictured below) I really would recommend trying it if you love sea food, also they do other types of Pasta, Meats, Pizza and more.

The shopping centre where I went is called Cabot Circus, in Bristol. They had the cutest little German market it on, it was selling fresh doughnuts, mulled wine, hot chocolate and loads of Christmas gifts. They also all had there Christmas lights up which looked so pretty at night.

As always I'd love to hear your comments and what you have all been up too.

D.I.Y - Caviar Nails

I had a pretty lazy week last week with some time of work, so managed to experiment with some caviar nails beads which I've wanted to do these for ages. I think I must have seen it in a magazine and was desperate to give it a go. I'm telling you now its very fiddly and slightly time consuming.
You can buy the sets (nail varnish and beads) which come in 3 different colours from here, but priced at £18 a set. I chose a cheaper option and brought some packs of beads off Ebay for less than £3 which come in over 15 colours - Click here to view.

I brought a pack of white and black beads, and had some nails varnish at home. This is how it turned out...

The white nails was the first colour I did, so as you can see it is a little on the messy side. I think that the white from close up looks a little tacky, and I did actually have a child I babysit for ask me if I had painted my nails in tip-ex...not the look I was going for!

This photo is much better than the other, purely because its taken on instagram (if you want to follow me - 'emmageorge_'.) I personally think that the black nails are much less tacky, and I have received numerous of compliments since doing them. I think the beads are much less subtle because of the colour, but yet still noticeable.

Here is the video I watched on how to achieve your caviar nails - here.

Tips

  1. Paint one layer of nail varnish and wait for it to dry before applying a second layer where the beads will go.
  2. Push the beads down quite hard for them to stick. Or you will find you have lots of little beads falling off everywhere!
  3. When the beads have 100% dried to your nails, coat in a thick layer of clear nail varnish, which acts as a kind of glue so the beads don't fall off so easily!
  4. Enjoy!

Please let me know your thoughts or if any of you give it a go.

It starts with a bang...

Well this first blog post is definitely proving more difficult than I first had planned... I guess I should start with the basics, my names Emma George, and I live in Bristol (UK, south...for those who don't know.) I'm 19, and work as a supervisor in Topman.
I've been meaning to start my own writing fashion blog for ages, as I already have a Tumblr account (http://uk-street-style.tumblr.com/) but that is mainly all photos. This is mainly going to be a fashion, and style, lifestyle and beauty blog, but I am a massive food lover so from time to time I guess I will post photos of food. I'll just generally keep you all updated on my life and what I'm up too.
Please follow and I'll follow back :)

Thank you.
